Chiang Mai

First day in Chiang Mai: talk to Partners, attempt to read which turned into a 3 hour nap, pad thai, Quiz Night at the local Irish pub. Not a bad start.

Welcome to all my readers, old and new! Many of you have journeyed with me from Louisiana to the Thai-Burma border and now onto life in more "proper" Thailand. After teaching special education for two years in rural Louisiana as a part of Teach for America, I made the decision that I needed to return to this part of the world to put into action my passion for justice. Just as when I was a corps member under Teach for America, I have passionately set out to prove that excellent education is not dependent on the best resources or certain socio-economic levels and that my students are amazing. However, this time I face some of the deeper, more sobering realities that create refugees, and I appreciate all of you who choose to walk with me and with my students throughout the process. You will have to occasionally forgive my strange sense of humor in the lighter moments, and I promise I will include as many stories as possible, as I encounter them.
